IQOS ILUMA Not Working? 6 Checks Before You Worry

Quick answer: Most “broken” ILUMAs aren’t broken. If your IQOS ILUMA is not working, run these six checks in order — they solve the majority of cases customers bring us on WhatsApp. If the device still won’t respond at the end, it’s covered: every device we sell carries a 12-month warranty.

1. Try another stick first

Before blaming the device, load a fresh TEREA from a different pack. A single damaged stick is the most common false alarm.

2. Make sure it’s TEREA, not HEETS

HEETS and any blade-generation stick will not work in any ILUMA — the heating systems are completely different generations. We’ve laid out the full TEREA vs HEETS difference if you’re not sure which you have.

3. Check the charge — properly

Charge fully and try again. On the ILUMA i One a full charge runs up to 20 sticks. On the ILUMA i and i Prime, the holder runs up to three sticks back-to-back and then needs its pocket charger — a drained holder feels “dead” even while the charger case still has power.

4. Insert the stick to the line — never force it

Push the stick in only as far as the printed line on the filter. Forcing it further is the fastest way to cause a real fault.

5. Think about the heat

Dubai heat affects battery behaviour and long-term life. If the device has been sitting in direct sun or a parked car, let it cool before judging it.

6. Remember Auto Start (i generation)

On i-generation devices there is no button press to start — the stick lights when you draw. Watch the status lights on the i One; on the ILUMA i and i Prime the touch display shows the session.
