IQOS ILUMA i vs Original ILUMA: UAE Upgrade Comparison

Quick answer: original IQOS ILUMA and the newer ILUMA i generation both use TEREA sticks. The useful upgrade questions are model format, controls, current availability and price—not unsupported claims that one generation produces a stronger or better experience.

What stays the same

• Both generations belong to the IQOS ILUMA family.
• Both use TEREA sticks.
• Neither uses HEETS or BLENDS.
• Both use an induction-based system rather than the exposed blade found in older IQOS generations.

What changes with ILUMA i

The ILUMA i generation adds model-specific controls and indicators. Feature availability differs between the all-in-one i One and the holder-and-pocket-charger i Standard and i Prime. Use the exact product page and supplied instructions rather than assuming every i model includes every feature.

Limited editions have separate prices and availability. Browse the live IQOS ILUMA category.

Should an original ILUMA owner upgrade?

If your current device works and its controls suit you, compatibility alone does not require an upgrade because both generations use TEREA. Consider upgrading when the newer controls, device format or current product availability justify the cost for you.

Compatibility check

TEREA works with original ILUMA and ILUMA i devices. Do not insert TEREA into IQOS 3 DUO or another blade-based device. See the device-and-stick matrix.
